Well, our first family vacation has come to an end... We headed down to Virginia Beach on Wednesday, and spent two nights there. The weather couldn't have been more perfect, but the best part was watching the boys' first reactions to the ocean. Daniel was a bit apprehensive at first, making whimpering sounds, but enjoyed it quite a bit the second day, eventually laughing each time the surf came up and tickled his baby toes. Nicholas immediately started doing "karate"to the waves and saying things like, "I'm going to get you, sea!" In reality, it was more like the sea was chasing him- he kept running away each time the waves crashed.
The only downside was getting the boys to sleep each night. It was after nine by the time they were both out, and I'm sure the huge chocolate ice cream cone Nicholas ate after dinner didn't help.
We spent Friday morning at the Virginia Aquarium, petting rays, and watching sea turtles and sharks. Both boys had a blast there. Check out our family photos (link at left) to see them in action.
Despite the fun, we were all ready to be back at home, eating home-cooked meals, and sleeping in our own beds. There truly is no place like it!

It looks like you had a great time!! The boys are getting so big. Your pictures are great. I can't wait for Caleb to see the ocean for the first time in October. I hope Hanna is not giving you a hard time, it look like we might get a visit from Ike.
That's hysterical- "I'm going to get you, sea!" Great pics, too! We are going to Myrtle on Wed and staying through Sunday. It'll be our first time to the beach in 3 years. I can't wait to see the kids' reactions, Ethan's especially. I'll let you know if he tries to attack the mighty ocean too! :-)
